The organization is a state body responsible for developing a comprehensive strategy for geological and geophysical exploration through geological surveying and the discovery of new natural resource deposits in the territory of Turkmenistan.
It also collects and stores information about the geological structure of Turkmenistan and its natural resources. It registers and maintains geological reports on land in Turkmenistan and in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea. It conducts the sale of seismic, geological, and geophysical data bases to authorized companies located in authorized complexes in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.
