In the near future, large-scale projects will be launched in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea with the participation of Malaysia&#39;s PETRONAS to develop new hydrocarbon fields and conduct exploration work in promising oil and gas complexes. This was reported by Mukhammetnur Atayev, a lecturer at the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan and Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists, in an article published in the &quot;Turkmenistan&quot; newspaper.

These projects were highlighted during bilateral talks held as part of the official visit to Turkmenistan by a delegation led by the Prime Minister of Malaysia. During the high-level meeting, both sides confirmed the productive nature of their long-standing cooperation in the energy sector. The submission of documents by applicants for specialist and bachelor&#39;s degree programs for the 2026/2027 academic year is progressing rapidly at the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University. According to data available on the newly launched online platform for applicants dalasgar.bilim.tm as of July 23, a total of 1,464 applicants have already submitted their documents for the 1,400 <a href="https://iogu.edu.tm/en/admission">allocated</a> study places at the university.

Citizens of Turkmenistan under the age of 35 who hold a secondary education degree are admitted to the higher educational institution on a competitive basis. Along with the full range of academic programs, the university also offers several new fields with English as the language of instruction. For applicants choosing these tracks, an additional language proficiency test and, if necessary, a one-year language preparatory course are provided.

Documents are being accepted at velayat centers and in Ashgabat (for the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag) from July 13 to July 26, 2026. To submit an application, original copies and duplicates of essential documents&mdash;such as a passport, military service certificate, educational diploma, medical certificate, and reference letter&mdash;are required.

Entrance examinations and admission procedures will take place at the university&#39;s main campus in Ashgabat from July 29 to August 13, 2026, on designated days for each region. Depending on the chosen major, oral exams will be conducted in the state language in subjects including physics, mathematics, chemistry, English, and the history of Turkmenistan. At an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on July 10 in the year «Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses» and dedicated to the results of the work carried out in Turkmenistan during the first six months of this year, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, emphasizing the importance of continuing the modernization of enterprises belonging to the oil and gas complex, consistently increasing production capacities, improving the efficiency of geological exploration activities and identifying new hydrocarbon fields, as well as advancing the production of environmentally friendly products, gave relevant instructions in this regard.Proceeding from these tasks, workers and specialists of the production units of the State concern «Türkmennebit» are working with even greater enthusiasm to achieve high results in the year when the glorious 35th anniversary of the sacred Independence of our Motherland will be solemnly celebrated.Over the past six months of this landmark year, the volume of “black gold» extracted from the depths of the earth by the State Concern has approached 2 million 53 thousand tonnes. In the departments of the «Nebitgazçykaryş» trust, 155 thousand 800 tonnes of oil were produced above the established plan during the reporting period, with the target fulfilled at 108.5 percent.At the same time, the State enterprise «Hazarnebit», which operates in the coastal area under the concern, produced 1 thousand 227 tonnes of oil above the planned volume. In addition, compared with the same period of the previous year, the growth rate achieved in crude oil production across the entire concern approached 101 percent.During the reporting period, oil and gas production departments extracted and supplied consumers with 2 billion 454 million 626 thousand cubic metres of natural gas. The Gas Production Department «Körpeje», as well as the oil and gas production departments «Keýmir», «Goturdepenebit» and «Gumdagnebit», demonstrated exemplary performance in obtaining significant volumes of associated gas.Among the resource-rich fields, the most outstanding success in «black gold» production was achieved by the «Keýmir» Oil and Gas Production Department. During the reporting period, this enterprise increased the volume of oil produced from operating wells to 236 thousand 613 tonnes, fulfilling the target at 122 percent.The oil and gas production departments «Goturdepenebit” and «Ýaşyldepe» also made a significant contribution to the success achieved during the first six months of the year. At these advanced enterprises, the plans for the reporting period were fulfilled by more than 111 and 115 percent respectively.The consistent strengthening of the material and technical base of the concern’s production structures with modern equipment and facilities also has a decisive impact on the current achievements.It should be noted that, thanks to the efforts of our esteemed President, high-quality capital repair works are being carried out at wells that have reduced or completely ceased production at the production facilities of the «Nebitgazdüýpliabatlaýyş» trust of the concern, equipped with multifunctional and powerful lifting units.Using modern equipment, complex repair works are successfully performed at temporarily inactive and operating oil and gas wells, while the timely restoration and commissioning of wells awaiting major repairs are also ensured. During the first six months of this year, capital repairs were carried out on 216 wells under the departments of the aforementioned trust, and these wells were returned to production.Due to the commissioning of these restored wells, the additional oil production volume across the concern amounted to 93 thousand 348 tonnes, with the plan fulfilled at 158 percent. The volume of additionally produced natural gas during this period reached 210 million 96 thousand cubic metres, meaning that the target was exceeded sevenfold.Drilling departments of the State Concern play a special role in the consistent growth of fuel production volumes. During the reporting period, the departments belonging to the «Nebitgazburawlaýyş» trust, which possesses some of the most advanced and powerful drilling rigs in the world, brought the total depth of drilled rock formations to 67 thousand 516 metres, fulfilling the target at almost 112 percent.At the same time, during the past six months, the total volume of rock formations drilled above the plan amounted to 7 thousand 516 metres. The drilling departments also successfully fulfilled the overall plan for drilling new production and exploration wells.During the first half of the year, the total number of new wells where drilling operations were successfully completed by the departments of the «Nebitgazburawlaýyş» trust reached 12, which is one well more than planned. It is especially noteworthy that 11 of these new wells are production wells.From these wells, which are currently being successfully brought into industrial operation, the volume of extracted crude oil reaches hundreds of tonnes per day.The products produced from hydrocarbon raw materials at the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries of the State Concern fully meet the highest quality standards. At this complex, which is being consistently modernized and continuously expanded with new production facilities, significant results were also achieved in the production of oil and petrochemical products during the reporting period.The plan for processing and bringing crude oil supplied to the refinery complex to marketable standards was fulfilled at 102 percent. A total of 702.1 thousand tonnes of various types of high-quality gasoline, 202.4 thousand tonnes of kerosene, 728.5 thousand tonnes of diesel fuel, 33.8 thousand tonnes of polypropylene, 86 thousand tonnes of liquefied gas, 244.4 tonnes of petroleum bitumen, as well as 28.7 thousand tonnes of lubricating oils were produced, exceeding the planned targets.These days, oil workers of the State concern «Türkmennebit» are working efficiently with the aim of presenting worthy labour achievements for the glorious 35th anniversary celebration of the sacred Independence, which will be marked with great festivities in the year «Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses».&nbsp;Source: «Nebit-gaz» newspaper&nbsp;

State concern “Türkmennebit” overfulfills oil production and new well drilling targets

During the years of Independence, Turkmenistan has consistently enhanced its energy strategy, transforming into one of the world&#39;s major fuel and energy powers. The immense resource potential of the country&#39;s oil and gas sector plays a vital role in ensuring regional and global energy security. Under the leadership of the Honorable President, the sector&#39;s development path is based on the principles of diversification, modernization of production, and the implementation of the most advanced environmental standards. Currently, production and management processes at newly constructed industrial facilities are fully carried out through a digital system, creating conditions for manufacturing high-quality, competitive products.

One of the massive projects implemented in this direction is the plant for producing synthetic gasoline from natural gas in the Ahal velayat. This modern complex, one of the first of its kind in the world, specializes in manufacturing environmentally friendly and high-quality fuel. The plant is capable of deep-processing approximately 1 billion 785 million cubic meters of natural gas annually to produce 600 thousand tons of ECO-93 grade gasoline compliant with the international Euro-5 standard, as well as diesel fuel and liquefied gas. This production facility marked a new milestone in the country&#39;s gas chemical sector.

Another strategic pillar of the national economy is the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries (TCOR). Operating under the &quot;Turkmennebit&quot; State Concern, this enterprise stands as one of the leading technological complexes in Central Asia. Here, deep processing of crude oil and gas condensate is performed to manufacture commodities that meet market demands. With its fully automated production processes, the refinery complex currently processes an average of 4.9 to 5 million tons of raw materials annually, and the finished products not only fully supply the domestic market but are also exported to countries across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

In the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, diversifying the routes for exporting energy resources to the global market remains a priority of state policy. Holding the world&#39;s fourth-largest reserves of natural gas, Turkmenistan&#39;s initiatives are consistently supported by the international community, which is clearly evidenced by the UN General Assembly&#39;s adoption of relevant resolutions on the reliable and stable transit of energy resources. The country systematically revitalizes mutually beneficial relations with foreign partners and international financial institutions across various sectors.

In recent years, virtual and physical exhibitions, as well as international conferences, have been regularly organized to promote Turkmenistan&#39;s industrial, economic, and intellectual potential in the international arena. The global community highly commends the achievements of our state at the international World EXPO exhibitions. On July 20th, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting via digital system with the participation of the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tangryguly Atahallyyev and the khyakims of the velayats, at which the pace of work in the agricultural complex and in the velayats of the country was reviewed.

The hakims reported on the pace of seasonal field campaigns in the regions.

As reported, these days, plowing is being carried out on the fields cleared after the wheat harvest. Necessary measures are being taken to prepare agricultural machinery, implements, and seeds for the upcoming sowing season.

In the areas sown with cotton across the velayats, care work is being carried out in accordance with agrotechnical standards, in particular, inter-row cultivation, fertilization with mineral fertilizers, as well as watering.

Along with this, preparations are being made in the regions for the autumn sowing of potatoes, vegetable and melon crops, and other agricultural crops.

The hakims reported on the progress of construction of social, cultural, and industrial facilities, the opening of which is planned in the velayats this year.

Having heard the reports, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the importance of timely and proper execution of work on cotton care, as well as laying the foundation for next year&#39;s wheat harvest, and gave specific instructions to the hakims.

In addition, Arkadagly Hero-Serdar instructed to keep under control the deadlines and quality of construction of facilities, the commissioning of which in the velayats is scheduled for the current year.

As reported, as part of the upcoming wheat sowing, plowing and leveling of fields, as well as preparation of agricultural machinery and high-quality seed material, are being carried out these days.

Along with this, in accordance with agrotechnical standards, care is being provided for rice fields in Dashoguz and Lebap velayats, as well as for sugar beet crops in Mary velayat.

Proceeding from the tasks set to further strengthen food abundance in the country, preparations are underway in the regions for the autumn planting of potatoes, vegetable and melon crops, and other agricultural crops.

Having heard the report, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the important role of the agricultural sector in the national economy, emphasizing the seasonal work currently underway, and in this regard instructed the Vice-Prime Minister to keep in focus the issues of compliance with agrotechnical requirements during cotton care, as well as proper preparation for the sowing of wheat and other crops.

Then the Head of State, addressing the participants of the working meeting, once again emphasized the importance of current campaigns in agriculture and instructed to ensure strict control over the timely and high-quality execution of agricultural measures.
