Current issues of Turkmen-Afghan cooperation were discussed

Daewoo E&amp;C Chairman Jeong Won-ju visited Turkmenistan from June 26 to 30 to discuss new business opportunities and strengthen the company&#39;s presence in the Central Asian market, the company said in a statement on July 1.

During his visit, Jeong Won-ju met with Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in Ashgabat. Daewoo E&C strengthens strategic ties with Turkmenistan

From 25 June to 3 July 2025, the 33rd Session of the Assembly of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO is taking place at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. On 24 June, the 58th Session of the IOC Executive Council was held.

The event includes thematic scientific sessions and special meetings aimed at strengthening international cooperation in monitoring the state of the oceans, predicting the impacts of climate change and protecting the marine environment.

The delegation of Turkmenistan, consisting of the Director of the Institute of the Caspian Sea of Turkmenistan Myrat Atajanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to UNESCO Maksat Charyev, as well as an employee of the treaty and legal department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Kemal Garayev, is taking part in the sessions.

The 33rd session of the Assembly of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO was held in Paris

From June 30 to July 3, 2025, in Seville, the delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Minister of Economy and Finance of Turkmenistan M. Astanagulov takes part in the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4).

The event is attended by heads of state and government, the UN Secretary-General, as well as the heads of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the WTO and other international and regional organizations.

In his speech, the head of the delegation of Turkmenistan noted that one of the important messages of the Conference is the updated global approach to financing for development, which is reflected in the Outcome Document of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development. Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan discussed current issues on the bilateral agenda

On July 2nd, The President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country, General of the Army Serdar Berdimuhamedov, held another meeting of the State Security Council, at which the results of the work of the country&rsquo;s military and law enforcement agencies over the first six months of the current year were reviewed. The agenda also included issues related to ensuring security and peace in the independent Motherland, strengthening the material and technical base of the security forces, and further improving their activities.

The first to speak was the Secretary of the State Security Council, Minister of Defense B. Gundogdyev, who reported on the measures taken in the first half of 2025 to successfully implement the Development Program of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan and to strengthen the country&rsquo;s defense capability. A report was also presented on the results of the spring conscription campaign and ongoing efforts to improve the service and social conditions of military personnel.

Next, the heads of the military and law enforcement agencies reported on the results of their work for the six months of the current year within their respective structures, on the fulfillment of previously given instructions and relevant programs, and on measures being taken to improve the work of these structures and implement digital technologies within them.

After listening to the reports, the head of state gave specific instructions and directives to the respective leaders regarding ensuring security and tranquility in the country, strengthening the material and technical base of the military and law enforcement agencies, and further improving their activities.

Addressing the members of the State Security Council, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that, according to Turkmenistan&rsquo;s Military Doctrine, which has a strictly defensive character, measures are being taken to maintain a high level of military security and integrity of the independent, permanently neutral Motherland, consistent strengthening of the country&rsquo;s defense capability, and improving the social and living conditions of the defenders of the Fatherland and their families. At the same time, it was emphasized that work in this direction will continue in the future.

President of Turkmenistan Held a Regular Meeting of the State Security Council

Balkan Velayat continues to see large-scale construction efforts aimed at modernizing infrastructure and advancing Turkmenistan&rsquo;s vital oil and gas sector. Specialists from the 1st Specialized Installation Directorate of the &ldquo;T&uuml;rkmen&yacute;&ouml;ritenebitgazgurnama&rdquo; Trust, under the State Concern &ldquo;T&uuml;rkmengaz,&rdquo; are actively working in Balkanabat on a range of projects. These include the development of mineral resource fields, installation of new fuel pipelines, modernization of existing infrastructure, and the construction of cultural and community facilities.

The enterprise carries out major work commissioned by the State Concern &ldquo;T&uuml;rkmennebit,&rdquo; as well as the &ldquo;Balkangaz&uuml;pj&uuml;n&ccedil;ilik&rdquo; and &ldquo;G&uuml;nbatargazakdyryş&rdquo; departments. Since the start of the International Year of Peace and Trust, the team has completed projects worth over 46.5 million manats, significantly surpassing planned targets.

Thanks to their extensive experience in pipeline construction and facility development, the specialists are delivering high-quality results on tight schedules. Continued investment in modern equipment, robust technical support, and skilled human resources all contribute to the success of these initiatives.

&ldquo;Under the wise leadership of the President of Turkmenistan, the oil and gas sector is achieving its goals and expanding export opportunities. Notably, industrial facilities, including oil and gas infrastructure, are being actively built across the velayat. On 30 June 2025, in the city of Porto, Portugal, within the framework of the 32nd session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Turkmenistan held a side event on the theme &ldquo;International Year of Peace and Trust: Strengthening Multilateralism for a Secure and Sustainable Future&rdquo;. The initiative was timed to coincide with the International Year of Peace and Trust, declared at the proposal of Turkmenistan, as well as the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan&#39;s permanent neutrality.

A telephone conversation was held between the Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Zambia

On June 30, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting on the digital system with the participation of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T. Atahalliyev and velayat hakims, where issues related to the country&#39;s agricultural sector and the work carried out in the regions were discussed.

The hakims of the velayats reported on the progress of the current seasonal agricultural campaigns.

The hakims reported on the progress of construction of social, cultural and industrial facilities planned for opening in the regions this year within the framework of the Program of the President of Turkmenistan for the socio-economic development of the country in 2022&ndash;2028 and the National Rural Program.

In the past two years, Arkadag has received prestigious international certificates and awards recognizing its high performance in smart urban programs, innovation, and ecological standards.

Last year, the city was honored with the top award at the World Smart City Expo 2024 in the Republic of Korea&mdash;&ldquo;For Outstanding Achievement in Smart City&rdquo;&mdash;along with international awards for &ldquo;Foreign Smart City&rdquo; and &ldquo;For Significant Contribution to the World Smart City Expo 2024.&rdquo; It also received the &ldquo;Choice of Quality‑2024&rdquo; Diamond Category award from the European Society for Quality Research in Vienna. As is well-known, the construction of Arkadag is planned in two phases. Currently, the second phase is underway. Once completed, new industrial facilities forming a modern industrial cluster&mdash;and social infrastructure such as a children&rsquo;s entertainment park, Arkadag Mosque, and more&mdash;will be commissioned.

In the first phase, 336 buildings were constructed: two- and multi-story comfortable residential houses, public, educational, medical and cultural facilities, sports complexes, and engineering systems.

All work has been completed to high quality and meets world standards. Educational institutions have implemented digital systems, and homes are equipped with smart‑home systems. Custom software ensures smooth operation and provides detailed information on all controlled devices.

Particular attention was paid to environmental aspects: eco-friendly materials were used in construction. Arkadag has received a certificate joining the &ldquo;Development of Sustainable, Green, Climate‑Friendly Cities with Innovative Solutions in the OSCE Region&rdquo; project, and a Certificate of Excellence from Hangzhou Dianzi University as a prominent &ldquo;green,&rdquo; eco‑friendly city.

A comprehensive set of measures ensures the new city&rsquo;s ecological cleanliness. Numerous trees and flowers were planted along streets and in adjacent areas, and environmentally conscious transport infrastructure was developed. Broad and spacious avenues, roads, and intersections are equipped with modern lighting, surveillance, and management systems.

With the implementation of a fiber-optic communications system, high-speed Internet has become available. A 4G cellular network has also been installed to ensure quality mobile coverage.

It is noteworthy that on the eve of the anniversary, during another visit to Arkadag, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty and Hero-Arkadag, gave his blessing for the introduction of 5G technology into the city&rsquo;s communications and Internet systems to mark the 2nd anniversary. For example, intelligently placed motion sensors activate lights only where a person is present. Homes have automated curtains and blinds to make more effective use of daylight and heat, controlled automatically according to time of day, season, or weather.

Security systems are remotely controllable through mobile phones or voice command, offering comprehensive home safety. Technical protections against flooding, water and gas leaks, smoke, electrical faults&mdash;that all are key functions of the smart home.
