The Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries was successfully held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone from August 5 to 8, 2025.

The results of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries were the subject of a special briefing with the participation of numerous domestic and foreign journalists.

On 8 August, the closing plenary session of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries was held, bringing together high-level officials from LLDCs, international organizations, as well as representatives of the private sector and civil society.

The agenda included a review of the results of the forums and high-level roundtable meetings held within the framework of the international Conference, as well as consideration of the draft Avaza Political Declaration and the announcement of the Avaza Action Programme.

One of the first topics of discussion was the reports on the results of thematic round tables devoted to such issues as simplification of trade operations, modernization of transport and energy infrastructure, attracting investment, adaptation to climate change, high technology and innovation.

As noted, the interactive format of the meetings facilitated the exchange of experience and the development of specific recommendations aimed at the economic development of landlocked developing countries. Then, in accordance with the agenda of the meeting, the Conference report was approved, which sets out the main results and recommendations of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. As was emphasized, the document demonstrates a high level of cooperation and solidarity between countries and is intended to become an important tool in monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the Avaza Action Program. In this context, confidence was expressed that the results of the Conference will be actively used in national development strategies.

The final part of the meeting was devoted to the closing of the Conference. At the plenary session of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, a general debate was held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.

Participants at the event &ndash; representatives of governments, international organizations, the private sector and civil society &ndash; emphasized the need for a comprehensive and coordinated approach to addressing the challenges faced by LLDCs. The debates identified specific goals and initiatives to improve the effectiveness of ongoing programs and expand partnerships at the regional and global levels.

The issues discussed at the plenary session included the development of transport infrastructure and the creation of modern transport corridors. As noted, optimization of the specialized sphere is the main factor in minimizing logistical barriers, increasing trade volumes and the competitiveness of the innovative economy. Particular attention was paid to the modernization of railway and automobile routes, the development of port infrastructure and the introduction of innovative technologies in the transport sector. In this regard, examples were given of the successful implementation of large infrastructure projects that improved the interconnectivity of regional markets and brought them closer together.

During the discussions, the need to attract capital investment in the transport segment was emphasized. Those gathered noted that effective infrastructure development is not limited to the construction of new facilities, it also requires the modernization of existing ones, maintaining their resistance to climate change and other risks.

Today, digital trade and innovative technologies play a decisive role in the development of the RSNVM. Participants in the plenary session noted that the development of a corresponding digital system allows for the expansion of electronic platforms, the development of electronic commerce and the introduction of high technologies, which in turn increases the efficiency of trade procedures and accelerates entry into the global market.

The session also emphasized the important role of agriculture in ensuring food abundance, creating new jobs and stimulating economic growth in the LLDCs. The participants identified the introduction of advanced agricultural technology and increasing labor productivity in agriculture as priority tasks. In this regard, a strategy for supporting small and medium-sized farms, which constitute a key segment of agricultural production and ensure the supply of food to the population at the local level, was discussed.

The emphasis was placed on the system of storage and processing of agricultural products. At the same time, the possibilities of introducing sustainable agricultural practices aimed at preserving natural resources and adapting to climate change were considered. The participants of the session emphasized the importance of integrating national and regional strategies for agricultural development.

Those gathered also noted the need to intensify the attraction of investments and financial support for development projects in the LLDCs. As was emphasized, the implementation of large-scale infrastructure, technological and social initiatives requires significant investments. In this regard, emphasis was placed on the special role of international financial institutions, investors, the private sector and states in creating a favorable investment climate.

Special attention was paid to issues of ensuring gender equality, empowerment of women in LLDCs. As noted by the session participants, equality of women and men is an integral part of sustainable development, social justice and economic prosperity. Women occupy a significant position in various segments of the economy, in particular, in the agricultural and private sectors, education and health systems. Within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC), held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, a meeting of national coordinators of LLDCs and UN Resident Coordinators was held on August 6 on the topic of &ldquo;Studying strategies for the implementation of action programs in national policies and development plans to ensure coordination and cooperation.&rdquo;

As noted, these complementary structures can expand interaction by creating common platforms and enhancing information exchange.

A separate topic of discussion was innovative approaches and best practices related to the implementation of the Avaza Action Programme. The meeting participants noted the importance of creating partnership platforms that facilitate the exchange of knowledge, information and experience, as well as combining efforts to implement joint projects with transit countries. This, in the general opinion, will directly contribute to the consolidation of efforts and more effective use of existing opportunities.

The discussion included a mutually interested exchange of views on effective ways to jointly implement the key tasks outlined in the new Program, which serves as a guide to action for the next decade. In this regard, the need to continue the established constructive dialogue, deepen multilateral cooperation, and use innovative approaches to achieve sustainable and inclusive growth was emphasized.

The creation of interdepartmental working groups with the participation of representatives of various ministries and industry departments (transport, trade, finance, planning), as well as the development of a corresponding Roadmap were named as an effective mechanism. Great importance should be given to explaining the importance of the Avaza Action Program to government officials, representatives of the private sector and civil society, holding information events to ensure their effective participation in its implementation, which will ensure a comprehensive approach to solving the problems facing the LLDCs.

On the shores of ancient Khazar, a theatrical literary and musical performance dedicated to the unique Caspian Sea was performed.

Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and heads of high-level delegations got acquainted with the exhibition, deployed in the theatrical interactive complex of sea fountains. The Turkmen pavilion presented environmentally friendly and high-quality vegetables, fruits, greens and berries grown in the favorable climatic conditions of the country, which indicates the successful implementation of modern agricultural technologies aimed at increasing crop yields and preserving natural resources.

The stand dedicated to the decorative and applied arts of our country reflects the rich cultural heritage of the Turkmen people, presenting unique works of artisans, artists, jewelers and wood carvers, made using ancient technologies.

The exhibition pays special attention to the preservation and popularization of national cultural heritage, as well as the role of decorative and applied arts in modern society. The exhibition reflects the subtleties of design and production, harmoniously combining ancient national traditions with modern technologies.

Then the distinguished guests got acquainted with the exhibits of the fraternal states and Turkmenistan.

Performances by artists from friendly states also took place at the exhibition sites of each country.

At a specially designated area for participating countries on the exhibition grounds, guests were offered to taste dishes prepared by chefs. All this contributed to familiarization with the richness and diversity of culinary traditions of friendly countries, as well as their history, culture and way of life, through the prism of national cuisine.

The exhibition of national cuisines of fraternal states, in addition to demonstrating dishes, is also dedicated to their significance as an important part of the intangible cultural heritage of these peoples. In each country, various dishes are associated with special traditions, holidays and customs of hospitality. They are not only food, but also an important part of social life, a symbol of unity and mutual respect, a means of preserving culinary heritage and strengthening ties between generations.

Within the framework of the exhibition, special importance was attached to the exposition of works of decorative and applied art of friendly states. The current show has become a unique cultural event, uniting rich traditions and modern creativity of the participating countries. Painting, sculpture, textile products, ceramics, jewelry, as well as works of crafts reflecting the centuries-old heritage and national culture of the peoples are presented here.

Guests had the opportunity to see magnificent examples of decorative and applied arts and crafts of the East, national patterns, carpet products, tools made of wood and metal, decorative items, samples of ornaments created by ancient masters, as well as those made in a modern style. A national white yurt was installed at the exhibition site of each country.

Then Hero-Arkadag and the heads of delegations visited the exhibition area of Turkmenistan.

Here, the guests watched performances by masters of culture and art of our country, got acquainted with the technique of preparing national dishes based on the book of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan &ldquo;Bereketli t&uuml;rkmen sa&ccedil;agy&rdquo;, as well as with an exhibition of fruit and vegetable crops, with examples of decorative and applied art.

The works of decorative and applied art, national handicraft traditions were also presented here. The exhibition exposition includes national costumes, jewelry, paintings, which provide an opportunity to appreciate the historical and modern achievements of Turkmenistan, the values created by the Turkmen people, and also to get acquainted with the comprehensive development of our country.

Carpets and carpet products, works of embroidery art occupy a special place at the exhibition. Here, the attention of guests was attracted by the products and work of skilled craftswomen

Further, following the traditions of Turkmen hospitality, Hero-Arkadag and the heads of delegations were invited to a table in the yurt &quot;Ak &ouml;&yacute;&quot;, specially installed at the exhibition site of Turkmenistan. Here, the distinguished guests were offered dishes of Turkmen national cuisine.

Then the National Leader of the Turkmen people and the heads of high-level delegations proceed to a specially designated place to participate in an official dinner in honor of the participants of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, as well as to watch a concert of cultural and artistic figures from fraternal states.

The concert opened with the literary and musical composition &ldquo;Waspnama &ndash; Arkadagym, Arkadagly Serdarym&rdquo;. The performance of the folklore ensemble &ldquo;Dokma&ccedil;ylar&rdquo; praised the grand achievements of our country, confidently moving towards new heights of progress thanks to the noble undertakings of the Hero-

Arkadag and under the wise leadership of the President of Turkmenistan.

A special flavor was given to the concert by the song based on the poems of Hero Arkadag &ldquo;T&uuml;rkmenistan &ndash; parahat&ccedil;ylygyň we ynanyşmagyň Watany&rdquo;, which sounded like an expression of pride for our peacekeeping Motherland, every day of which is marked by great achievements and labor successes.

The concert program continued with performances by pop singers and dance groups from friendly countries, which allowed for a unique excursion into the countries of their performers. The songs performed in Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik, Uzbek, Russian, English, Spanish, French and Arabic made a great impression on the audience. The festive concert continued with the Kushtdepdi dance, a unique example of folk art, which is included in the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Kushtdepdi, reflecting the harmony of historical and cultural traditions and the spiritual world of our people, is today enriched with new content.

Then the concert participants performed the song &quot;Awazanyň kenary &ndash; dost-doganlyk mekany&quot; together. The bright and spectacular performance emphasized the commonality of spiritual and cultural values and the creative power of the creative unity of fraternal peoples.
